Grease from cooking is often invisibly tracked through the house by people and pets. It’s notoriously hard to get rid of, and near on impossible to vacuum away.
Here are a few tips for limiting and eliminating grease:
Use a splatter guard on your frying pan!
Limit cooking foods with grease where you can (try steaming, grilling, slow cooking)
Lower your cooking temperatures or use high-temperature-friendly oils
How to remove a grease spot on your carpet:
Too late to take our advice and already have a greasy spot on your carpet? You may be able to clean it yourself.
Sprinkle some baking soda onto the spot and allow it to stay there for at least 1 hour. This should act to absorb the grease. Hoover this off when you’re ready and mix up some mild, bleach-free, alkali-free detergent and warm water.
Using two clean and absorbent white rags, use one to apply the mix and the other to absorb the mix. Blot, don’t rub! Repeat until it’s removed.
