Always test on an inconspicuous area first to check the effect on your carpet.
Wine Stains
Clear washing up liquid and white vinegar can work miracles in this instance.
Using a white cloth, blot the stain to remove the worst.
Mix 1 tbsp of washing up liquid, 1 tbsp of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water in a bucket.
Apply in small amounts using your white cloth. Blot gently, and repeat until the stain improves.
Pet urine
Using a paper towel for maximum absorbency, pat (don't rub!) the stain until as dry as can be.
In a spray bottle, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of white vinegar.
Soak the area you've just dried.
Vinegar will neutralise the smell, so give it a good spritz!
Give the area a scrub - be very careful not to damage your fibres at this point! You just want the mixture to penetrate through the carpet to everywhere the urine might have reached.
Whilst the area is wet, apply some baking soda until it fizzes and crackles. Give it another rub to get it deep into the fibres.
Leave the baking soda to dry completely on the carpet.
Once it's dry (this can take a few days!), give it all a good thorough hoover.
Mud
Let the mud completely dry before hoovering up the worst of it.
Combine 1 tbsp of washing up liquid with 2 cups of warm water.
Blot the area with a white cloth, rinse the cloth, and repeat until the mark is gone.
Blot dry with a dry white cloth.
